After what happened at the Battle of the Bands on Sunday night, they closed down the school for the rest of the week. I guess instead of the finale tournament next week they're gonna get a guest speaker to talk to us all about suicide at an assembly. Its so annoying cus i know the adults think theyre trying their best to solve the problem, but they just dont get it. How could they think all of those were ordinary suicides?
Today without classes to go to, Killian asked to meet me at Jennings park by the barn where my grandma's friend used to give art lessons in the summer. Mallory was there too. The three of us have seen the snatcher ourselves and somehow lived to talk to each other about it, and he figured maybe together we can figure out what it is.
I brought the creepy face-mints and the creepier doll with me.
Killian had a whole bunch of books about serial killers, vampires, aliens, and ghosts, trying to figure out what this was. I asked Killian about the doll, and he said he was only pulling a mean prank on Lillith during the first week of school, making her think that stuffed doll was haunted. During lunch the two of them snuck into the auditorium and played with a ouija board, talking to a spirit posessing the doll, but he was faking it. She got so freaked out by the scary stuff Killian was making the doll say, she grabbed the thing and said she was gonna hide it.
After she left, Killian was all alone in the dark, and he saw the ouija board start to move on its own. Then he felt its hands all over him. The only reason he got away was because he was close to the doors leading out to the cafeteria. The sun coming down from the skylights must have shooed it away, but not before he got marked.
Mallory asked what it spelled on the Ouija board, but Killian said it didnt make any sense, it just said c-u-c-o.
But Mallory looked at the little faces carved into the pills in my hand, and it looked like she suddenly solved the whole thing. She was like "Maybe its THE Cuco."
I guess her grandma was from Portugal, and grew up with bedtime stories about a monster called El Cuco. Its made out of shadows, sneaking around in the dark and preys on kids. In the stories The Cuco would stuff them into a giant bag and take them away to kill or even eat them. Mallory said she was always scared to let her foot dangle of the side of her bed at night, cus her grandma warned her El Cuco will grab her and her hair would turn white from fear.
She said the angry squished up faces carved on the drugs kinda looked like the creepy carved coconut mask her granmda carved of the monsters face.
Jeeze, with happy little bedtime stories like that growing up, no wonder Mallory turned out so "nice"...
She said another name for the Cuco is boogeyman. But that's like too crazy, right?
Is the boogeyman real??
Whatever it is, It must be hiding under the auditorium stage, the one spot in the whole school that never sees any sunlight.
We decided to go home and do some more search online. I think the plan is to do something inthe next few days while the school is empty.
If school is out for the whole week, that things probably gonna be starving without any students allowed to come near the building. That means maybe it'll be weaker and easier to fight??
Unless it already kidnapped his next target to keep him fed for the week.
Oh crap, I just remembered Tristan!!!!!!!!!!!!! I never got to check to see if he was okay afte rI heard him scream Friday night!
